Nutritionist, Dr Carrie Ruxton, appeared live on Channel Four News on 6th April to support a new Food Standard’s Agency pilot scheme which will see 18 caterers and fast food restaurants put calorie declarations on their menus.
Speaking on the programme, Carrie said: “This is great news for consumers, many of whom don’t realise that they are setting themselves back more than 1200 calories when they have a burger, fries and soft drink, or 1800 calories when they have a pizza with all the trimmings”.
With 60% of adults and one in three children now overweight, helping consumers manage their calorie intake when they eat out is an important step in tackling obesity”.
